06:22 SUNW Sun Miro discussed favorably in Barron's Online (3.73 )

Barron's Online discusses Sun, saying that after 4 years of declining revs, Sun has a more sober strategy that hinges on a new computer system more than 2 years in development called Galaxy, which could help Sun finally turn around. "There is upside to Sun's stock once investors realize their business is stabilizing," says Michael Cohen with Pac. American Sec. "Galaxy has the potential to make their server sales grow again." Tying together 8 chips should make Galaxy almost double the performance of existing systems based on only 4 chips, says analyst Martin Reynolds with Gartner, making them an economical alternative for tasks such as databases. "It looks like they'll have a very compelling offering based on the performance for the price," says Reynolds. "I still want to see some urgency in Sun's attitude to getting to profitability before I believe this is a long-term holding," says Chuck Purcell, a fund manager with Gartmore Global Investors. Sun's earnings are forecast to rise to 2c per share this FY before reaching 7c in F'07. Sun trades at just 1.1x sales compared to Dell and IBM at about 1.3x, which is even cheaper considering that the co has about a dollar per share in cash on its balance sheet.
