Yeah there was a lot of gold stored in the WTC too.... This shows again the superiority of paper (or really electronic) assets :) I can't see any problem with people taking the food and stuff they need - police are letting them do that and "looting" the stores themselves to get supplies for the refugees. As for other stuff, most will be destroyed or swept away likely when the water flows/pumped out, so probably not much harm in taking it. e.g. some guy taking 10 pairs of jeans. They will never be salvaged otherwise... Jewelery etc. will probbaly get buried in the mud somewhere.
