Tuesday morning, I spoke with my sister, who is a nurse, and her husband, who is a nurse, both of them in hospital administration in Baton Rouge, and asked them whether the hospitals in New Orleans were being evacuated to Baton Rouge (which is high ground, and there is emergency power in these hospitals). No idea. No plan for emergency evacuation.

My dad is a sport fisherman with a boat that would be ideal for rescuing people. Did anybody ask fishermen to bring boats? No. The rescuers are doing it on their own.

There's no gasoline. Has anybody organized a convoy of tanker trucks? No.

There are nurses and doctors all over the country that could be flown in. Has anybody made plans? No.

These people need to be taken out on boats and taken to tent cities. Are there boats to take them out? No.

Are there tent cities to take them to? No.

There are going to be thousands of deaths before this is through.

You won't be defending them then.
