Re: Governor's mental collapse.

DMA, that is more or less her usual state of energy, though it seems that she is also laboring under a lack of sleep. She, along with Mary Landrieu, who skates on her father's coattails, have never impressed me one bit.

In Landrieu's case, the GOP made the mistake of running a guy who made Genghis Khan look good. Jindal ran against the Gov., and nearly beat her. He would have been great but his dark skin cost him the few votes needed to win.

Jindal would have probably handled this disaster much, much better, though not having it witnessed it firsthand nor yet having the benefit of hindsight should give anyone who wants to comment intelligently on the issue some pause.

In short, we don't yet know the full story. I suspect a lot of it has to do with the fact that the levees held during the worst of the storm and guards were down. The evacuation and preparation for the storm must have been exhausting, too, and I'm certain that didn't help. I see the exhaustion firsthand as my wife is working like a dog on the job of getting the federal courts up and running, and she didn't have anything to do with the preparation for the storm.
