<<Cisco shortly will bring out a new type of access concentrator that will
offer most of the features of Ascend's products. Because of the more efficient
use of custom-designed chips, Cisco will spend less than Ascend to make
the product, analysts said. That will allow it to price its product below
Ascend's, analysts said.>>

<<Any price cuts by Cisco could be a serious problem for Ascend, though, Rajamani said. Ascend gets 55 percent of its revenue from that product line.>>

Keep in mind what I've said before - it's the Hardware/software/support
total package that is important. CSCO has to cut prices to have a chance
to break ASND's grip, but until they have a "head and shoulders" better
total package, they are unlikely to succeed, IMO. Management inertia
towards it's current vendor is a powerful thing. The new CSCO
offerings have to be market place proven (and be shown to be better
price/performance/stability/etc.) before we need worry. Nobody is
going to swap out critical network hardware/software on price alone.

Getting about time for next generation TNT/GRF, Mory? Hope you have it
in the works.
