I'm disappointed that the President didn't address the energy crisis (and that's what it's going to turn into) in greater detail. He should have urged people in the areas serviced by the gulf refineries to curtail all unnecessary driving. Rationing is inevitable and I fear violent confrontations over dwindling supplies.

Tapping the SPR and suspending smog blend requirements will be a "drop in the bucket" as long as the refineries remain shut down. I fervently hope that they're able to get up and running again, ASAP. If that takes weeks instead of days, there's going to be hell to pay.

I'm no genius, just an average Joe Blow who watches the news and tries to stay on top of events, but if I had an idea of what was in store before the storm hit..

..then why are the authorities, who are supposed to be on top of these things, always a day late and a dollar short? This could easily turn into a national crisis..
