Everything is mass confusion.

Every mass casualty situation is chaotic.

I few days ago, I posted - never forget, it can always get worse. And it has.

Fear is the driver now. It evokes a wide range of responses. Yet each and every harmed person needs help and they can only be helped one at a time.

Un-tended the fear becomes hysteria and the hysteria makes people ugly and stupid. In a chaotic and fearful atmosphere otherwise normally calm people may become violent. This morning I read several incidents that have scared the early military responders into inaction. Certain kinds of well trained leaders can wade into these situations, instill confidence and persuade groups to cooperate and assist each other to get what they want...safety, food, water, shelter and info about relatives.

This is good training for those of us observing from the outside. In the event of a massive terrorist strike, the same thing is going to happen. Folks in threatened areas are going to react similarly.

The last line of text in my book is, "Preparation is everything."
We can all now see the importance of being well supplied and not only having, but also implementing a family rendezvous and evacuation plan. I usually speak about preparedness from a terror strike perspective...but I always point out, if you are prepared for one emergency, you are prepared for all.
