Katrina is bringing out the hostility to Bush ... at least here ... in spades. I wonder whether anger toward him will start to galvanize nationally. Probably not. The nation is too dumb to connect any of the dots. FEMA, the National Guard, and the Coast Guard working to protect the levees right before the hurricane might have helped. Whether any of them would have been done so had the resources really been available is questionable. Our national psyche is not one to prepare for natural dangers. Look at the way people live on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It's insane.

I must admit, though, how much I enjoy seeing public anger rally against the chimp. He's basically just a worthless punk.

Regardless of the anger directed at the chimp, the situation in New Orleans is so sad to see. The city was like a museum. I loved it. I remember visiting it for the first time in 1994. I was awestruck. The place was beautiful. The French Quarter has not been hit very seriously. At least from what I hear.
