You can't have a city that produces a third of the nations oil be so vulnerable

New Orleans doesn't produce a third of the nations oil. The Gulf Coast in that area does. You can't do much to protect 900 oil rigs drilling and pumping oil from a hurricane.

NO doesn't produce the oil but it refines it. What I am suggesting is that you move the refining facilities away from low lying [read: below sea level] areas. And from what I am hearing the rigs are coming through in okay shape. Port Fourchon looks to be okay as well as the LOOP. Its only the refining facilities that look problematic at this time.

Have you ever been there? The place stinks, there's trash on the beach that washes up from the oil rigs and the beaches are not white, I definitely would not walk around barefooted.

The only solution for the problem you noted is to diversify your sources and refining. But you can't drill for oil in Nevada or Iowa....

So when do you want to turn the coast of California into the Gulf of Mexico with >900 oil rigs and their associated refineries, filth, and risks? Say 15% of the nations oil from California and 15% comes from the Gulf? That would cut your risk concerns in half....

Okay, I see where you are going with this......never mind. Another useless exchange. I am glad Paret has joined the thread.........now you two can keep yourselves busy with myth based nonsense.
