Hi Harvey A,

I don't know the specifics at this point but its pretty clear that a fairly large "split" has opened up between the Mayor of New Orleans and the other politicians involved in this disaster.

I expect we'll see some major mud slinging between dems/repubs, white/black before the mud cakes, drys up and blows away. FEMA has found a black Lt. Col. w/N.O. connections to "take the point" on the roll of the guard/military in solving these problems.

That bankruptcy law may wind up with the quickest amendment/repealer in history. But laws are easy when the social fabric starts to peel away. They've already told the IRS, banks, insurers and other creditors to forget collections/foreclosures for the time being.

I hope I'm wrong but I truly don't think any Americans understand the scope of this kind of disaster and I believe too many people are expecting too much from government and politicians. Laws can always be fixed. But if people aren't all on the same page. If they don't see the same truths. If they don't have equivalent and accurate information. When stress hits it can pull them apart far easier and faster than it brings them together.

Forget the hurricane(s). It's pretty clear now that no one in New Orleans, Louisiana, or anywhere else, had an actual disaster plan to cover a major breach of the Levees. Or if it did, it wasn't implemented for some reason.

My guess is that this is a "sore" point with the Mayor. Either by design, or by his own choice, he's at best "out of the loop" and at worst... "in revolt" about what is going on.

Lord a'mighty. I just heard CNN's evening show high-lighting the poverty/racial demographics of all this...

Harvey, I don't know. I just don't know. But I do know people are dying and death has no color. And I know that it may be fun to kick a politician every now and then, but in the end they are in fact "us." And without them we're pretty much just a bunch of predators, scavengers and prey.
