Zenith, in so many words, said its employees were lazy and over-paid.

Sony knew that the real problem was incompetent Zenith management and products designed by Zenith which did not take into account ease of manufacture.

I'd guess the real reason Sony gave all of the ex-Zenith workers a raise was to point out how wrong American manufacturer's view of the world was. I'm sure the raise also helped solidify the loyalty of the ex-Zenith workers toward their new employer, Sony.

When ever you hear an American manufacturer talk about being priced out by "high labor casts" you can be certain you are talking to an idiot.
