Engineers have known for years that New Orleans levees couldn't withstand anything above a Category 3 hurricane.

It's unbelievable Congress is off on vacation, pondering about coming back early to work maybe next Friday to deal with the aftermath. How about dealing with the situation now, before people starve to death, and airborn large amounts of foodwater supplies to these people?

How can any govt official view the damage and not ask about the plans to airborn food/water supplies into the region? That's 101 relief effort stuff.

edit: you'll note the phrase "govt" and "Congress" are words independent of any political party. There are some things that should exceed even politics in order to take a higher ground for common good.
