"Dammit... you're too good."

Blindsided again. Z, you have no idea how angry I am right now. And I am a rather relentlessly type B. As you might have noticed(probably not), I have resorted to profanity. In a culture that prizes honor, courtesy and leading by example, profanity is something that is only expressed under duress. This is where I am at. Given what I have found out, this was almost totally avoidable. I've known that New Orleans was an accident waiting to happen for going on 3 decades. What I didn't know, and I admit culpability, is that we have been systematically destroying our ability to respond to such an accident. This is criminal. It might even transcend criminal and edges into the concept of evil.

What is happening in New Orleans is an inflection point. This has the potential of transforming how we address the future. Yeah, I know you regard me as a space cadet, but I am reminded of the episodes of "Deep Space Nine" that involves Gabriel Bell. Forget the Star Trek BS, the pseudoscience and the logical holes. Focus on the sociology. Focus on the cause and effect, focus on the people. It tells a very important story. Ok, 2024 arrived a bit early, but we are at that point. I doubt seriously that we will ever reach the utopia that represents the Star Trek universe. But we damn sure can do better than we are doing now.
