It's a misunderstanding that disaster is required for gold to do well, or that potential natural or nuclear disaster is the main reason most invest in gold. Also, if and when disaster hits, one had best be prepared with the obvious survival necessities such as food, water, medical supplies. Gold may or may not help, but the aforementioned are requirements. And sad to say, but judging by events of recent days, guns and ammo are probably another requirement.
