Since Louisianans didn't know they were in a hurricane zone, and since New Orleans didn't realize they were sitting below sea level, it was the federal government's job to notify them, to warn them. The failure of the Bush administration to let them know has cost the lives of thousands of Louisianans who didn't realize they shouldn't be sitting below sea level through a class 5 hurricane.

Had Bush not frittered his time away on foreign adventures, he might have prevented this storm. Had he signed the Kyoto Treaty and transferred more of our industrial base to China, this might never have happened.

Since Louisiana doesn't have a state government worthy of the name, and New Orleans clearly never had a city government worth the time of day, since Louisianans are obviously incapable of managing their own affairs, I would agree with Mary Landrieu.

Louisiana should be federalized.
