Because of statements like

"...and because it is primarily IBM that is pushing for the technology that often CORBA is thought as belonging to IBM...."

I seriously wonder if the statements have been seriously investigated or flagrantly written. Anyone who works with CORBA would also count Netscape and IIOP as a serious proponent of CORBA and strategically at least as important as IBM.

If you read the OMG's web site, you will also know that IBM was not one of the eight founding members, which were 3Com Corporation, American Airlines, Canon, Inc., Data General, Hewlett-Packard, Philips Telecommunications N.V., Sun Microsystems and Unisys Corporation. Your attribution of CORBA to

"...the result of contributions from many researchers from different companies (to be specific from the following: IBM, HP, SunSoft, ICL, and IONA Technologies and of course OMG itself)...."

conflicts with the history of CORBA as a creation of OMG, and not a joint effort of OMG and the member groups you specify. Your statement also ignores the efforts of the founding members of the OMG.

Others are welcome to visit omg.org to learn about the OMG and CORBA from the horse's mouth.
