"But, we cannot blame our government for the people who refused to leave and have become casualties. They are responsible for their decisions."

You do know that 25% of the NO population live below the poverty line? That's 100-200,000 people. What if you were ordered to evacuate but had no car, no money for bus fare and no money to rent a motel when you got there? What would YOU do?

The local and state response has been pathetic. Once the storm hit, the locals were knocked out. That's when FEMA was supposed to step in. Bush gutted FEMA and appointed a political hack to run it. Now, we're paying for it. Bush is being blamed - and he should be. Bill Clinton would have been wading around New Orleans the day after Katrina. His motives wouldn't have been pure, but he'd have BEEN there, leading. Bush flew over NO in his helicopter today. Whoopee!
