I have cancelled my trip to NC and Ft Bragg next week.
We are going to become part of the solution.

We have identified two needs that are not being addressed.
School and homework supplies for displaced kids and clothing for infants. It is not surprising...I saw the same unanswered needs in many refugee resettlements. In fact these two needs were never addressed in any significant way except by SF and once by Lutheran Family Services..

Earlier today. we committed to deliver school and homework kits to at least 1,000 American refugee kids. With support, we hopefully, will deliver many many more. And all the infant supplies (up to six months), we can get, to new mothers.

We did a recon this afternoon and learned the local retail store supply here is insufficient. We plan to clean their shelves beginning 0800 tomorrow AM, and make additional purchases enroute. Our goal is to arrive with a truck and camper load full of supplies.

Karen and I will depart NLT Wednesday AM in our truck and camper trailer and plan to make pick ups enroute at UPS outlets and deliveries in Texas and Louisiana from the West and possibly the North.

Once delivered, we plan to volunteer to assist one of the resettlement agencies.

If anyone is interested in assisting us, please send an e-mail to unclewest@aol.com. We pay our own overhead. Those who work with us get no free lunches. 100% goes to the refugees.
