Dry ground, shelter, sanitation facilities, boats, water, drugs, etc.. still quite the challenge however. That nobody could see that water and santitation was paramount and needed special facilities just to deliver is hard to imagine.

I would have tried to get LST's there with portapotties, water tanks, filtration, chlorination, tents, fuel and dry goods-food. I know FEMA will not like the idea of temporary tent cities, but 50,000 people cannot just sleep out in the rain.

Morale is also vitally important and it is not good right now.

There will be 5 more storms in the Gulf this fall. Those affected also need to thing about battening down the hatches.

I had to laugh at some of the grandstanding of the black leadership saying it was because of the black and the poor that they were not getting faster action. Really. I don't think the incompetence and disorganization at the top had anything to do with their colour.
