Heh, talk about spin...

My first first post on this subject specifically stated:

This catastrophe has been greatly exacerbated by the large number of people that chose to ignore the mandatory evacuation order. I'm not talking about the old and infirm. I'm talking about able bodied men and women that chose to "ride it out" for whatever reason. Those same people are now sopping up resources that should be going to those unable to fend for themselves.

But of course let's ignore that statement, because if we don't we're left with the people that stupidly (your word) stayed behind, and that's not nearly as poignant is it?

There's been an entire confluence of events that have contributed to this unmitigated disaster; they begin with the actions of some of the victims, include a less than spectacular response by local authorities, and continue all the way up the chain of command, perhaps to the very top. That said, any other examination of the sequence of events that contributed to loss of life, other than the myopic, obsessive focus on Bush and FEMA is unacceptable. Worse yet, it's spun into stuff like this:

Yer right, forget all these people, they're imbeciles and deserve to die a hellish death at the hands of their government!
