I'm a little surprised at such an uninformed post from you, patron.

Did you not see from Day One of this disaster the U.S. Coast Guard helicopters lifting people off rooftops in flooded New Orleans? Do you think those Coast Guard guys (paid with YOUR tax dollars) were having fun?

Your claim of people dying at the "hands of their government" sorta tilts the wrong way.

Maybe you did not also see the pre-hurricane interviews by Fox cable TV with two stupid people---one of whom decided to not evacuate the French Quarter because he "had a lot of pets to take care of", and the houses in the Quarter had stood there for many years without incident, so he figured they would survive this coming event. Wonder how he and his pets are faring now with no electricity or water for the forseeable future.

And then there was the crazy New Orleans tourist from NYC who said he thought riding out the impending hurricane would be an adventure and noted (wrongly) that the last disaster in New Orleans was "the Titanic in 1969, and people lived through that so I figure I can, too".

Really amusing how the Fox interviewer handled that statement, noting that the Titanic sinking occurred somewhat BEFORE 1969 and warning the guy that a CAT 5 hurricane is about as bad as it can get, so was he sure he wanted to do this. Would like to know where the NYC guy is now.
