Here's what happened to a friend's sister this week. She lives in a small apartment in the French Quarter. Like many residents, she thought the govt was crying wolf about Katrina, so she stayed. There was no damage to her apartment on Tuesday when the storm receded so she was prepared to wait it out until power was restored. However, there were gangs going apartment to apartment up and down the street, robbing and raping her neighbors. She grabbed some stuff and sneaked out. Walked 30 miles to a friend's house and got into a truck. Now she's in Connecticut staying with her parents.
