IMHO because of Louisianna's lackadaisical attitude toward disaster, their lack of planning and their lack of foresight this is going to cost OUR NATION a fortune. Latest number I have heard bandied around is 100 BILLION. Now Andrew was CERTAINLY as fierce a storm as this last one YET it cost I believe something like 25 Billion. The difference IMHO is failure to plan, failure to insure the levees were adequate, failure to execute evacutation and failure to protect public property. Kind of pisses me off, so if we are going to blame people lets blame LOUISIANNANS!! The part of the levee causing the most problem as I understand it is Lake Ponchetrain. Well isnt that run by the STATE not the Army Corps of Engineers. jdn
