That is a beautiful eulogy to a dog, Grainne.

I cringe a bit at other odes to dogs that use the "master" word, but it was just the customary language of earlier times, as was (and is) "pets."

The people who used those words, unthinkingly, loved their dogs as much as we do, and made up for those terms by an eloquence in expressing their feelings that has become a lost art today.

It always has been and always will be that the simple, unaffected dog is among the finest and most beloved of our companions and friends.
