I've stopped watching TV. It is inflammatory and inaccurate.

On a personal note, we are leaving Hou. for Baton Rouge, where we have found a school that will take our son,and my base for the moment to try to crank up my law practice. Haven't made contact with many of my partners and I am beginning to fear for them as, like most lawyers, they are fiercely independent Some may have stayed.

We are getting closer to the Wild West.

I still plan to try to finagle my way into the city, which seems much calmer now.

The article you linked last night blaming the looting and criminal anarchy on the pre-existing breakdown of the Orleans Parish criminal justice system was absolutely spot on.

It is noteworthy that Jefferson Parish, which borders Orleans Parish, and which sustained just as much damage as the city proper, seems not to have had the problems we have had. It's reputation for aggressive law enforcement is well deserved. The Sheriff, a colorful Chinese-American, Harry Lee, does not put up with any nonsense. Jefferson Parish is of course hugely GOP.

Of course, the media has not seen fit to even report on Jefferson Parish's situation. Not newsworthy.
