Personally, I would take what I needed and pay for it later. But that reminds me of a discussion earlier where I "borrowed" a melted butter dish from Red Lobster with by doggie bag and returned it later. CB considered that theft.

IMO most people are not criminally inclined - for whatever reason (some because of religion, some because of philosophy, some are afraid of the consequences if they are caught, and some due to a lack of initiative) - whatever.

Most criminals are psychologically impaired and or are very stupid (I would say almost all). Highly intelligent criminals are few and far in between. (If you are highly intelligent, you can get what you want by using the law to your advantage. There is no need to get law enforcement to go against you - that makes your job much tougher).

Stealing water, food, and or medicine for yourself, children, family and friends on some exceptional basis falls into another category.

Criminality is something for a civilized society to deal with in the normal course of events.

When we start pointing fingers at criminals during times when things are out of control - we are indulging in something that is not very nice in my opinion. In fact, I think it is shameful.
