A colleague at work recently had a cavity sandblasted by one of these machines. The procedure was so simple and painless that he wondered if the dentist actually did anything. Compared to lasers the sandblasters are safe and easy to use and I think less expensive. I expect that acceptance by the dental community and the public is very likely.
