It starts with getting duly elected. Then it continues with created a bogeyman (sound familiar). Then they take it further by looting the countries treasury and rich private sector companies and leading citizens. Then they make that ok by buying the masses. Castro did it with free healthcare and education. Then they start changing the way gov't works. Maybe they propose legislation lengthening their own terms. If the parliament doesn't vote it in, they disband the parliament and appoint a new one that does what its told. Prior to the next election time, they declare elections no long necessary or they buy the election.

I don't think Chavez is like that but we will see. The Venezuelans overwhelmingly voted him into power....just recently so I don't feel we can interfere. Venezuela is the only country in S. America that has had an ongoing democracy for several decades. Most of the opposition to Chavez is coming from the rich. And everything I've read suggests the rich are much worse than they are in this country.
