Their presence underscored how seriously the White House is reacting to the political crisis it faces. Bush once famously called Nagourney an a--hole, and he deserves the title. Bumiller too. The only thing Bush could possibly be taking seriously is the "political crisis", right? 'Cause that's all they care about, right? They couldn't possibly be reacting to the humanitarian crisis or be thinking about morale. After all, this is a Republican President we're talking about. Can you imagine him phrasing it this way if Clinton was still in office? The question answers itself.
