The reporters are saying it takes them 10 minutes to get in and out of NO.

This asshole has not heard of transport helicopters which began to arrive four days after the storm passed, or inadequate food and water stockpiles in the superdome or at the convention center...you stick 20K people in one place, you better be prepared to feed them...and medical navy ships tracking down the east coast days after the storm is over...and he talks about partisanship...I have faulted the local administration as well. That lady governor was shell shocked after the storm...she's a democrat. So is the mayor of the city. And then he goes and blames the French for building the city where it is a couple of hundred years ago as if that matters...and says I am partisan...can you get anymore stupid than that? Neanderthal, troglodyte. They should neuter folks that stupid.

Agreed.

If NO was to catch fire now and burn to the ground, they would fault the original settlers for using wood when building many of the structures. Ray and Harris are GOPers first; Americans second. Bush could take a leak on the front lawn of the WH and they would find away to defend it.

Having said that, I am just grateful that things are starting to turn in NO. Most of the people are out of the Superdome and Convention Center. And there is talk they might be able to start pumping water out as early as Monday. If they can, they will be able to save a number of the existing houses that are water damaged.

However, I don't like the timeframes they are mentioning.........ie they are saying the earliest the NO airport might return to service is sometime in November. I hope very much that they are being conservative and that things will recover faster.

Of course, there is the rest of the ravaged area.....most of the Gulf Coast in trouble.......there are towns like Slidell, Waveland, Pass Christian etc that are mostly wiped out. Its going to be a long haul. We all will be paying for a long time.
