Yes, but would they have gotten out as quickly?
I was talking about city transit before the storm hit...
The mayor apparently said everyone get out that can and the rest of you stuck here, good luck..

You don't think beefing up the levees would've made a difference?
We'll never know. Is that THE critical issue? A cat5 hurricane hit NewOrleans. End of story.

A timeline from Fox, anyone got others?
foxnews.com

Saturday, the mayor of NewOrleans declares a state of emergency and urges residents in low-lying areas to evacuate.
Sunday, the mayor orders a mandatory evacuation for New Orleans. But 10 shelters are also set up, including the Superdome, for those unable to leave.
But no transportation for the residents he knew Thursday that cannot leave?
Tuesday night, the mayor lets it fly on an interview...

My neighbor here in the military was called up Wednesday morning and they left Thursday morning. The hurricane hit Monday morning. The levees failed Tuesday. To speculate how the president of the United States failed is ridiculous.
