Kanye West And The Crazy Left: Unhinged Is An Understatement
By Brian The Blue State Conservatives
My stomach turned and my heart sank when I read this:
New York — It began, fittingly enough, with jazz from New Orleans natives Harry Connick Jr. and Wynton Marsalis.
But "A Concert for Hurricane Relief," a heartfelt and dignified benefit aired on NBC and other networks Friday night, took an unexpected turn thanks to the outspoken rapper Kanye West. Appearing two-thirds through the program, he claimed "George Bush doesn't care about black people" and said America is set up "to help the poor, the black people, the less well-off as slow as possible."
The show, simulcast from New York on NBC, MSNBC, CNBC and Pax, was aired live to the East Coast, enabling the Grammy-winning rapper's outburst to go out uncensored.

He must have been listening to Randi Rhodes the other day when she said that Bush was happy to see Democrats die in the hurricane. It's hillarious how Time sees him as the most intelligent man in pop music. (h/t Malkin) Whatch the video and you'll see why I find that funny. So here is what I've concluded: There are many people on the left that sincerely believe that GWB is a monster of colossal proportions. That people actually believe he's Satan incarnate. What fools they are. What absolute fools. Until now I resisted that line of thinking. I just thought they were willing to say anything, even if they didn't believe it, to get their way. I was way wrong. They are absolutely insane.
If Kanye West was an intelligent person he would have considered the fact that more than half of this country voted for Bush and would find his words deeply offensive. I'm willing to bet that many honest and level headed Democrats are angered by this too. There is no telling how many people refrained from donating to the Red Cross because of what he said. My only hope is that those who now refuse to donate to the American Red Cross, find another charity and give generously. The left is hurting the very people they wish to help and they are oblivious to that fact.
Kanye should be ashamed of himself. Had I been Mike Myers I would have left script and verbally spanked him on live television.
Note to the far left: You have the right to say whatever you wish but you've obviously forgotten what it means to be a decent human being. You accuse, jab, dissent, argue, curse, protest and ignore reason and intellect. Facts DO NOT matter to you. You run your life by your emotions and forget that you need a cadence between your heart and your head.
You have a new conspiracy ready at the drop of a hat to stir a pot that needs not be stirred. You believe our government rigged the levees to blow, that GWB hates black people, that he'd legalize rape if re-elected, that he brought down the twin towers, and that he stole one election and rigged the other. You are filled with hate and it is consuming you. You are pointless in a civil society yet your words draw national attention. What a shame that is!
Your "compassion" is limited. You lack common decency and the very tolerance you preach. My only comfort is that mainstream America knows better. I find comfort in knowing that you are driving people to conservatism. It's only a small comfort mind you. I would rather have you embrace reality. I'm not asking you to agree with GWB or vote Republican. I'm just asking you to be civil and to use your head once in a while. Try finding a college course in manners and take it.
[updated: 9/3/2005 1:57:45 PM]: The American Red Cross and NBC made these statements in the after Kayne West ruined the benefit concert.
American Red Cross:
<<<
"WASHINGTON, Friday, September 02, 2005 — The American Red Cross is incredibly grateful for the support we’re receiving in the wake of the catastrophic events caused by Hurricane Katrina. We want to acknowledge the ongoing support of NBC-Universal, which aired a telethon tonight on behalf of the victims of this tragedy.
During the telecast, a controversial comment was made by one of the celebrities. We would like the American public to know that our support is unwavering, regardless of political circumstances. We are a neutral and impartial organization, and support disaster victims across the country regardless of race, class, color or creed. We cannot, and we do not endorse any comments of a political nature." >>>

"Tonight's telecast was a live television event wrought with emotion. Kanye West departed from the scripted comments that were prepared for him, and his opinions in no way represent the views of the networks. It would be most unfortunate if the efforts of the artists who participated tonight and the generosity of millions of Americans who are helping those in need are overshadowed by one person's opinion." >>>
[updated: 9/3/2005 2:35:16 PM]: I'm trying to find a link to any blog that showed the Democratic Underground bit about the government being at fault for the levees breaking. Specifically that our gov't rigged them to explode at a specific time. If you find that link or know where it is, please e-mail me or leave a message in the comment field. I know I read it somewhere.
