The vast, vast majority, undoubtedly, but the mayor and the state failed to provide the option, so we'll never know. (It now appears that over 500 buses were available in New Orleans alone, 200 of the infamous school buses now under water and 364 transit authority buses.)

How many who weren't given that option, but would have taken it if offered, are now dead in the filthy waters instead of safe in a Red Cross center? The official state evacuation plan called for those buses to be used but the governor and the mayor failed to follow through.
