Where in LA was the Mayor going to send 20-30,000 poor people? He has no real power outside of the City.

Never gonna happen, but I was trying to think outside the box on this question yesterday. Whither it was done sooner or later, they would have been much better off to disperse the people.

Think of a column of buses leaving NO, and one bus peeling off in each small town and pulling up to its square. Let the locals figure out how to handle 50 people at a time. With the combined efforts of the local churches, government structure, clubs, etc, and the natural outpouring of a desire to help, these refugees would have disappeared into the countryside.
