I did speak with dad this morning
my contact peron from there spoke with me first, Ms M [she is an angel] and gave me an update on him - he couldn't eat dinner, he slept well [except when FEMA insisted on talking with him via the phone at 10:30 last night] - ate a huge breakfast this morning, then she took him to their church service and held his hand - after service, he took down the names and addresses of the volunteers [he is a monster thank you note writer] - hearing that, I knew he was doing ok
then she put Dad on, his voice is so weak, he kept breaking down, but his spirit is still strong
I didn't want to overload him with questions, cause he seemed so strained but did ask him where he was after his hotel was evacuated tues, it was the superdome - I asked him if it was as bad as it appeared in the news and he only whispered, I am outraged [I've never heard him say he was outraged]
he had no food, but had water
he is not exactly sure when he was evacuated from there [early saturday I think for he came to the church late sat afternoon], but it was by bus, he said things are fuzzy towards the end of his ordeal and he can't remember some things [a blessing I think]
he told me he is now wearing a clean flowered shirt [he hates that kind of stuff and they way he brought it up and his tone made me smile]

the church contact person told me she had been so moved, over joyed by my father connecting with us, she couldn't sleep last night
they have been so kind to us.... |
