The most important rules are:

1. Always polish your balls regularly. Brass tarnishes easily.

2. It is important to ignore all rules except the unwritten ones. They are the most arbitrarily enforced

3. One must make routine speling and grammatical erores to keep people their toes on.

4. If you have extreme political views, make sure people are sufficiently warned about them by making frequent references to them in unrelated posts. This approach allows the blow to be softened when you go on a 27 consecutive post polemic preaching that Martians should not be allowed to live in Caves on the Whitehouse lawn.

5. It is imperative, though not widely published herein, that SI members must also take out a Life Membership in the John Birch Society, drink acceptable quantities of low-priced hard liquor, and submit to a polygraph test semi-annually, which will try to establish the whereabouts of and persons responsible for missing items at their place of business.

6. Never disagree with E. Charters on any serious topic. It will be assumed after that you know what you are talking about all the time.
