It has taken guts to do what Perry has done. New Orleans is gone. People are talking about "rebuilding", but that's so much nonsense. This place we used to go visit on long weekends is no more. While Jackson Square, the French Markets, and the Quarter will still be there, as well as Canal St. & downtown, these areas like the east side and the projects will have to be leveled. When it comes back, it will half the size, if that. I fear it will make Love Canal look like a hospital operating room. Many, if not most, of these people who have been evacuated are not coming back as they have no reason to come back. People really haven't begun to figure out the scope of this disaster -- which accounts for a lot of the bitching about the "slowness" of the recovery process. It is just so freaking big they simply don't get it.
