Hi Bill -
You can write up your own list better than this.
This list appears to come from some thing like Dear Abby, and it is OLD.
Also, should be focused by environment - in Florida, a simple life vest, like skiers have, would be useful.

Storing water in a metal gas can ? you can work for FEMA. Things that can wrong -
Water will rust the metal. Holes will leak water or fuel.
Water will pick up heavy metals from the solder / brazing used on the joints. Yummy !
Water can contaminate fuel, stopping a vehicle.
If someone like me finds water in a gas can, they will suspect incompetence or possible sabotage.
***** Blue containers, preferably plastic, should be used for water.
Road flares can be replaced or supplemented with chemical lights, with much less fire danger, more noticeable colors, and can be held in hour hand. (try that with a road flare !)

EMT scissors - these can easily cut seat belt webbing, safely cut away clothing becasue they have blunt rounded tips. These have been availible for 10+ years.
