Cisco has a major problem with it's prices right now in all areas. COMS, Bay, and ASND have really put the squeeze on them, and I am seeing it in the field. When a customer can get equivalent equipment for 50% of Cisco routers/switches/access-controllers, the customer has a responsibility to management to consider the alternative architecture. Cisco is loosing more of these bids to other vendors (of whom are often loyal Cisco customers).
