now that the phone lines are up in LA, people are calling in to the talk shows and apparently right after the evacuation notice, almost immediately after, the airport was shutdown and rental cars were practially nonexistant due to the demand. Huge numbers of tourists were stuck in the hotels, not because they had no money, but because there was no transportation available anywhere to get out. So there are tons of people of varying circumstances "left behind" so to speak , so this renders the "they should have known better and left" excuse fairly moot. I think we will hear the reality from the survivors soon and a lot of these excuses are going to be dismissed.
