I think before one discusses the this and that of "venting" (one "alias" to another), it is necessary to establish whether or not the actual people on SI (whether anonymous or not) can be influenced by the written word (whether directly or indirectly commanding their attention).

My question to you is this: DO you think that posts should be addressed and phrased in consideration of the real person being addressed behind the alias? and DO you think that the REAL person being addressed (spoken to, as it were) can be hurt by words addressed to the alias of that person?

I need to run but I will be back in a few hours with keen interest in your viewpoint.
