No kidding, as my friends from NYC have told me that has rapidly become a super expensive and fancy place to live now. Much more so than SoHo and Trebeca.
And 30 years ago even the black cab drivers refused to drive in there...

I think it is a bit of an exaggeration. There is a lot of investment going into lower Harlem for renovations (A lot of buildings are sound, good quality, but suffered decades of poor maintenance). But it is mainly for the advanturous types who want to save money (like 2/3 compared to Upper East and West Side).


Harlem was once one of the better areas of NYC. It may be returning to such a place but it will take years.
