The only reason I dislike insults, and other extraneous combat, is I don't see any purpose to them- and they get in the way of what I am interested in (ideas), and breakdown all reasonable discussions about said ideas. If they served some logical discussion related to my purposes, then I would probably not be against them (I can't know for sure, I'm speaking hypothetically), but they don't. What interests me on SI are the ideas. I'm not really that interested in the people here. I have plenty of people in my life in 3d- I come here to relax with ideas. Other people obviously want to come to SI to "connect" (or "anticonnect" in the case of people who love to fight on the net)- initially that idea about the internet appealed to me, but it does no longer. So I am here for my own purposes, and my own purposes are served by discussing ideas, and not people. Other people could have completely different agendas, but the reasons I am here completely explain my view on these things.
