When I interact with people on SI, I prefer that I interact with the person and not the pretense. If I just want "ideas" I can read books. The people I interact with on SI are NOT books--they are PEOPLE. There is absolutely nothing wrong with people interacting here as they do in the coffee shop. There is no good reason to empower prejudice and racism here with the "banning" game. You don't ban people at Starbucks because they do or don't like Bush. There is nothing to be proud of to ban them in a virtual coffee shop. I cannot imagine being proud of prejudice and racism but--HEY HEY!! Go for it! Apparently, some people think that "banning" makes them superior or tall. There have always been people who burned books, haven't there??
