EP, ... some previously staunch and even a few rabid Bush supporters at the Foreign Corresponds Club and the American Club in HK are, as if thunder-struck, all of a sudden, realizing the error of their earlier ways;

... however, I raised the possibility that it may all have naught or at least not very much to do with the specific individuals in office, nor with the political party machinery that enabled the placement of officialdom to office, but, in fact, may have everything to do with the generalized, gradual, and insipid deterioration of the aggregate quality of the electorates (in thought process, values, and stamina for engaging in the necessary but uncomfortable / unpleasant in any sustained fashion) that put the various teams in office, as in by the people, and for the people, and so, logic dictates that the people are ultimately to be held accountable (this must be true, per cold logic).

... realistically thinking and frankly speaking, officialdom teams from the other party would not likely have improved matters to any meaningful distance, because the system, at its very core, is one that generates quick and easy answers and caters to unrealistic expectations, as in ‘SnP will rise 10% per annum, along with housing valuation, and never mind the debt owed to any and everybody, and gad, don't those uniformed contractors look wonderful in foreign lands’;

... and the electorates actually still do not get it, as in what is actually wrong, because there is preciously little introspection about all other and nearly everything else that is on the path of wrong, leading to TeoTwawKi.

The system in all other countries will all tend toward the above described eventuality; the difference being most nations cannot now afford quick and easy answers, not so much because the answers are assessed to be unworkable, but because they are not affordable even to try.

Sometimes, if not most times, in the final assessment, it is a good fortune to be unfortunate, and a curse to be fortunate.

Cycles rule, and per Newtonian physics, events go until they stop.
