ESPECIALLY former colonies and the developing world, is simply a racial and cultural monolith and will remain that way probably forever. I remember reading somewhere that Ghandi was a racist and hated blacks - I don't know if it is true or not - until I have proof one way or the other I will remain open to both possibilities - but I was at a collge function with some liberal chicks who had just seen the ben kingsley movie and they laughed and said no way - ghandi is cool - he loves all people - black, white, yellow, martians - they believed this very strongly based on thier one movie viewing experience without reading any real history books - I think this is the problem you are trying to focus on Slagle. I met this croatian back in college, now his dad was a gun smuggler during the war and he said he had executed muslims and blacks back home - and he could not believe when he first came to the USA how SNOWED all the american suckers were - it was emotionally very hard for him to deal with his - it got him into many fights actually for about the first year here - but with time he grew to be less amazed by people who believed everything they saw on an episode of friends or in the movies.
