I believe those defending their partisan loyalties are missing a very important dynamic that is unfolding in America.

I would argue that those defending their partisan loyalties are buying into a very tired dynamic that should be discarded, because we've seen the results and it's been tried and found wanting.

That is the politics of spin control, damage control, getting out the troops to trumpet the talking points from the rooftops.

Truman said, "the buck stops here." These days, those in charge don't seem to want to accept responsibility anymore, it appears that they spend their days huddled with political advisors, looking for ways to deflect blame instead of looking for solutions to real problems.

Maybe the 200 schoolbuses that were inundated when the Industrial Canal overflowed could have saved some people. But is that really the proper response when people were dying right then and there? "You didn't use those school buses so quit your bellyaching!"

Maybe the people should have evacuated. But is that really the proper response when people were dying right then and there? "We told them to leave! So they shouldn't complain!"

I think not.
