Hypocrisy at the Times Picayune

By Sensible Mom

Today, the Times Picayune demanded that President Bush fire every official at FEMA.

But the Drudge Report states that less than eight weeks ago, the same paper reported that,
"City, state and federal emergency officials are
preparing to give a historically blunt message: "In the
event of a major hurricane, you're on your own."
Staff writer Bruce Nolan reported some 7 weeks before Katrina:
"In scripted appearances being recorded now, officials
such as Mayor Ray Nagin, local Red Cross Executive
Director Kay Wilkins and City Council President Oliver
Thomas drive home the word that the city does not have
the resources to move out of harm's way an estimated
134,000 people without transportation."
This selective memory by the press while people are desperate for help is unbelievably manipulative. To ignore information closely at hand, which clearly indicates the culpability of local government and those who chose to stay behind, is more political than what we have seen among the democrats posturing for advantage. One would hope that those who claim to be objective would at some point act that way.

Update: Here are two guys who stayed (their land is high and dry, by the way) and are protecting theirs and their neighbors homes.

As long as they can take care of themselves, and I didn't pick up on any whining or demands of the government, I'm fine with it (they're sheepdogs and definitely not pink in Tribe parlance).
