Backing out of IE 4 from Win95 is also a fertile foulup.... un.... FUBAR thing with IE4's uninstall taking away more than it giveth back.

Only three of Gary's .dll list match dates on mine in the win\system dir.

Maybe, if we had some kind of a matrix made up of .dll file lists from those who have no download probs and those who do, any offending files would be revealed.

My .dll's are either newer or the same but for:

I notice that Gary uses WININET.DLL dated 5/23/97 ... but that seems for Win32 and I use Win95. Anyway mine is 8/23/96.

Gary also uses OLEPRO32.DLL 2/21/97.. and I don't know what OS it is for. Mine is 8/23/96

I updated COMCTL32.DLL yesterday to a version 5/19/97, while his is dated 5/23/97. Mine is fresh from MS' patch site. However that one did not change the message popping up at internet download saying my id and password were incorrect. (I ignore the message and hit return and the download proceeds normal.)

I notice Microsoft is not for the moment allowing sellers to distribute some .dll files but suggests instead they take them from IE 4. Seems odd MS puts their faith there, but maybe they know those new .dll are ok... or someth'n.

Any ideas?
