You know, Warren tried to claim that Willie Stark was not really modeled on Huey Long, but I don't think anyone took that very seriously.

Warren sure could have written a comic sequel based on Earl Long, who showed his respect for the press by peeing on a hotel carpet in front of them. Earl's wife, you may recall, had him committed to a state mental hospital but when he arrived there he announced that he was the governor and had the authority to fire the director of the hospital and walk out, which he did.
